Thanks for coming to learn a little more about me. This page should provide you some insight into what makes me tick. Enjoy! -Katie
I live with my husband, our two-year-old son, and Labradoodle in the East Bay. We enjoy renovating our “fixer upper.” As the daughter of a mechanic I’m pretty handy and love DIY projects. The rest of my time is spent chasing said toddler and dog, hiking the many Bay Area trails, and traveling. Since planting roots in the East Bay we’ve claimed both the Warriors and Athletics as our home teams.
I love a good adventure, and feel it’s important to challenge myself both professionally and personally. In that vein, I’ve completed several triathlons and participated in the Group Health Seattle to Portland Classic. It’s a 202-mile bike ride from Seattle, Washington to Portland, Oregon. The two-day ride began as a personal challenge when I started cycling and became an annual event when I lived in Washington.
I used to think I’d become an alpine ski racer like Picabo Street. Though that didn’t happen, I still have a need for speed. When the snow falls, you’ll find me on the mountain.
A competitive drive carries over to my work as a journalist. To learn more about my professional career click here for my resume.
